Shortly before the Soviets gave up their blockade of Berlin’s western city parts, the C-97 prototype was deployed to West Berlin for the airlift. This airplane was capable of transporting four times the freight of the previously operated C-54/DC-4s. To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of the Berlin blockade, Herpa releases a model of the “Stratofreighter” involved as a limited edition. |
